If it's something that would hurt her image (or rather make simps not like her as much) then she shouldn't allude to it at all because it's just goading people to try to get her to say something self-destructive. If it's not actually a big deal like she dropped her box of donuts or something then it's being over-dramatized for pitybaiting.
I assume it must be something actually kinda serious but her using it just to pitybait is just cynical as all fuck and exploiting random smoothbrains by tickling their whiteknight reflexes but not giving them any specific instructions what to do with it, so they turn that urge into donations.
