Anyone working in a call center, teachers, radio hosts, actors and anyone else expected to speak constantly for more than a few hours at a time day in day out need a warmup routine. Any hoarsenss shouldn't be ignored but so many work through it. Polyps form and need medical care or risk permanent injury or voice change.
They also need to make sure to to work while sick with a cold as the chance for damage increases. Actors often grab decongestants to get through their obligations but they can still fuck up their throat. It is made far worse by smoking as well.
