>>92015693>It feels like they're doing a cover of a Disney channel original songthat is quite literally the whole point of the song and exactly what it's supposed to sound like 'random Disney show with emo pop punk song opening' is the most Fauna/Moomcore thing ever.
>>92016045it's not exactly a parody, it's more of a homage to that era/genre of music than just a parody since the lyrics themselves even reference actual bands (Simple Plan, Taking Back Sunday)
the only reason it sounds weird or mid to the modern listener is because it's played completely straight in terms of sounding exactly how that music sounded with the lyrics being as simplistic and sincere as if middle school Moom and Fauna actually wrote and sang them without a hint of irony.
To the modern millenial/gen Z listener after decades of already being used to this genre and it being parodied and years of irony culture hearing an example of the genre in its most basic straightforward form without a punchline or turning point moment in the song seems underwhelming and kitschy.
