>>92344952The main difference is that the jp idol industry tends to scout young, so on top of genuine idols getting professional vocal training from like age 12, you also have a lot of families with aspiring idols (either a kid with a dream or a mom with a vicarious dream) who are basically learning to sing as soon as they learn to speak. They're not the majority by any means but common enough for there to be a pre-trained talent pool to draw from even disregarding the karaoke culture in japan.
The west doesn't really have a comparable industry mass-producing child star vocalists.
