Honestly, as someone who uses LLMs to do my work I see the situation like idSoftware's reason to open source the doom engine back in the 90s: "(paraphrasing) If others can do a better job, we deserve to fail."
However the absolute worse part is how AI will be used solely to generate profit because it was invested too much. The sheer amount of drinkable water used, not only for data centers in deserts, not only to produce the energy but to produce the components will be felt. It's propped up by the same people that propped up crypto and those deluded that "AGI" is feasible in our lifetimes are idiots.
Recently large companies want to implement bots that resemble people just to brag to investors how much engagement seemingly exists on their platform. People will FEEL heard, but won't BE heard. Pic rel, offers some sort of insight on how it would go down, it's just that you won't choose which type of AI follower you get, an algorithm based on your engagement will decide to.
The increasing amount of spam on youtube by people trying to make a quick buck already starts to be exhausting. And with google's track record maybe they'll remove the filtering search as well, you know, "before:2023".
