>>92962624actually it's more relevant than ever before because we didn't have any EN departures besides Sana to go off of.
in reality however it's actually not a vtuber specific thought. most of the entertainment industry works like this, for guys and girls. actual famous actors and musicians have PR people, managers and agents who very carefully preen and groom their public image and perception and stop them from tripping up their image with their dumbass selves. the thing is with being a public star, your image gets built up as people imbue you with qualities they want to see in you, not what you really are. fans do this because they want to positively reinforce to themselves and each other why they're fans, why so and so is such a great person. it's natural. and it only holds as long as it's carefully propped up for most people. otherwise when going unfiltered you get people like charlie sheen and michael richards. decades of careful image management wrecked forever.
somehow vtubers think none of the above translates or applies to them even after they get very VERY famous - they should consider things more carefully. it's the careful girls who go very far even on their own, like doki and mint still pretty much act like how they perceive fans want them to be, they don't use their status to ever spit on anyone or have some epic mask-off moment. I'd say fauna should have made careful note of that but it's already too late lol.
