Is Hololive using mocap performers instead of talents?

It’s been bugging me for a while now, but I noticed in a lot of the recent 3D lives (not the in-person concerts, i mean more stream-specific ones like Holocountdown and the Gen 4 live happening rn), there’s a lot of fade-in fade-out for lots of songs back to back, and the girls don’t even MC or interact with each other on stage using their voice. It’s just singing, which they could’ve just prerecorded and mixed. I feel like the performers doing the dances are mocap performers and not the actual girls themselves.

I first noticed when in my oshi’s 3D birthday live recently, she had a huge setlist of songs back to back but never did an MC. Just fade in, fade out. The dances and movements were all too perfect. And knowing her, she was never a perfect dancer. It felt a little uncanny. This coupled when she said last year that she had issues with scheduling the studio and it was frustrating - maybe she decided it’d be easiest to have someone else mocap the performance this year. She’s never had the stamina to do so many songs back to back, and even if she recorded all the songs on different days, i doubt she would’ve been able to schedule the studio after knowing what she went through last year.

Same thing for holocountdown this year - the only performance that seemed like it was actually the girls dancing was Regloss, since they actually did speak and the dancing felt like them. Even in the credits scene showing little bloopers, the girls did not have any audio and I’m pretty sure it was just mocap performers striking some poses.

Right now Gen 4’s 3D live is happening, but yeah…same thing. It doesn’t feel like the performances are “them”, aside from the singing. There weren’t any MC or speaking segments in 3D.

I could see hololive using mocap performers because it saves everyone probably a lot of time and money. Scheduling and flying in everyone for something like holocountdown could be very difficult.
That being said, it’s starting to feel a bit…manufactured. I miss the days when the 3D lives would have more interactions and we’d get to see the girls be silly on stage and be themselves.

If it’s up to the girls, then it’s fine. But I feel like maybe Cover thinks they can get away with things with the Vtuber tech and fans won’t even notice.
I hope I’m not the only one that has been feeling this recently…
