its literally a win/win
its not headed by miyazaki. it gives the junior developers experience and something to do, letting them spread their wings a bit, using an established IP without harming the canon, using stuff they already made which makes the dev cycle less expensive, lets them mess with the idea of always on co-op without going full live service, etc
