>>93353736I'd say the draw for most people is being lonely. Being a lonely man that doesn't interact with women leads you to watch vtubers. And what makes you stay is whether or not you enjoy a chuuba's persona. However, you're missing a very important aspect of all this - the fact that you want to mitigate your loneliness with a "real" person behind the avatar. So to me, it only makes sense that if/when the chuuba decides to show herself, unless she's a hideous monstrosity, 9/10 times her average fan will fall deeper in love with her. You see it her all the time. Despite knowing what they look like or not, people fall in love with vtubers.
And it makes sense. You're a guy that has never dated/hasn't dated in a while, you come across this chick with a cute model and a personality you enjoy, she's a weeb like you or has similar interests - it's human nature.
So like it or not, most people will do better if they show their face. If a vtuber revealing how she looks like was really THAT appalling to the average faggot here, they'd stick to waifus and just watching CGDCT shows.
Because again, despite what the draw is, the bottom line is this industry preys, or whatever term you want to use, on lonely people. People lonely and pathetic enough to fall in love with anime characters that talk to them sometimes, and even that's a stretch because at most they'll read whatever inane shit you type in chat, are vtubing's bread and butter.
