This. The youtuber I've followed for the longest is from Leeds and his accent was/is a drawing point for many people. Americans love silly accents so it's surprising more vtubers don't lean into that.

British people can tell where you come from, what level of education you attained, what class you are which leads to somewhat accurate assumptions about what hobbies and interests you grew up with and how smart you are just by listening to your accent for a few seconds.

This makes listening to British VAs in games immersion breaking and probably explains why zoomers would rather adopt what they see as a neutral Americanised accent that reveals less about who they are
