>>93504315....You're right, but at the same time you're wrong. Most of what you said is 100% true and correct, except for the part where you said he didn't realize that the overseas market is forever lost to Niji.
He does know that the West is lost to them. Everyone in the company knows, particularly the people in the EN branch (livers/management/staff/etc.)
But the "more merch and events" line wasn't meant for the Western fanbase, it was meant for the investors. In their nuance-less eyes, Niji did everything right:
>They published a termination notice, which is an industry standard action when firing a talent but please pay no attention to the details within the actual termination notice, which includes among MANY other things an admission that they were harassing Selen's family while she was literally on her deathbed, and while they had full knowledge as to why she had been hospitalized >They had some of their other vtubers go on stream to inform the fans of the fact of Selen's firing, which is an industry standard action when firing a talent but please pay no attention to the actual contents of the black screen, or the timing of its broadcast being timed to match Doki's first scheduled stream after her return >And they had the CEO personally go on the English branch channel and apologize, in English and with English subtitles, which is an industry first but please pay no attention to the lack of sincerity in his "apology," or the fact that he was apologizing to the investors and not the talents or the fans, or any other details above and beyond the fact that an "apology" was published As far as the investors know or care, Niji has already done everything which must be done; and if the Western fans are not willing to forgive the company and appreciate the "more merch and events" that Niji is releasing, then the fault lies entirely with the Western fans.
>>93511847Nah, she said that she simply couldn't afford the financial and especially mental cost of a long and drawn-out court battle. It may look like it would be a slam dunk victory for her, but unless she could win on summary judgement she would end up losing through financial attrition.
Of course it's moot now anyway, since EN management has own-goaled themselves into relegation.
