The reason I say to avoid Uruguay and Argentina are because they have awful food. One of the best things about traveling and living abroad is getting to eat amazing meals for a fraction of the cost back home. But Argentinian food is basically just shitty Italian food. Yeah yeah there's empanadas but it's 90% a gross version of Italian, arguably worse than Italian-American and certainly no better. Uruguay is the same way.
>b-but anon, just cook for yourselfThat's the worst part. You go to the grocery store and the produce on the shelves is literally rotten. I pick up a bag of onions and it literally stinks of decay. Maybe things have just gotten really bad recently with the economic troubles but it's honestly shocking that people live this way, I've been to many third-world countries, including many far poorer, and never encountered anything this bad.
