It's common to have northern people with southern families nowadays though, I was born and raised in the north but my family's mainly southern.
By the way, a common insult for southerners is "terrone" (basically "the one who lives in dirt"), and one for northerners is "polentone" (basically "the one who eats a lot of polenta"). Pretty clear that Raora belongs to the former category, but I still really like her.
