>>94412201>I think ID1 and ID2 were always gonna lose viewers over time for the simple fact that they were always treated as EN 1.5Being "HoloEN-lite" was the downfall for ID2 but for ID1, it was something else.
Their early growth came from the interest their "HoloID house" caused in the overall audience, in a period the two non JP branches (CN and ID, EN didn't exist yet) were not even acknowledged as "full Hololive" yet.
One of the big differentials ID1 brought was the fact that they all shared the same dorm, meaning there was a permanent "story arc" going through their streams. Here is an example that got lots of traction back then

Then four things happened
1) Moona "heeded the call" and joined the biggest box exercise Hololive had back then, and at the exact right moment
>Minecraft server, story arc with Pekora, right when Holos lost permission to do ANYTHING else pretty much2) Risu and Iofi did NOT go through the same path and it definitely didn't help that they both went the OPPOSITE way, forming "Kira Kira Club" with Aruran and Oga
3) At the end of 2020 the "PekoMoona" arc came to their conclusion with Pekora and Moona first 1-1 collab, Risu had her massively successful NNN run which, for obvious reasons, ended up December 1st, book ending their respective most successful box arcs
then
4) Moona had to move back with her parents and the "HoloID dorm" was no more. Iofi and Risu content, mood and consistency SUFFERED tremendously and, with the debut of the (then) heavy hitting (for ID standards) ID2 they never bounced back except for Moona which kept the Minecraft arc alive for as long as she was capable.
Long story short: ID1 had a massive chance with the box in 2020 but two of the three squandered it and the later only had pretty much one trick in her sleeve, with went away when Minecraft ceased to be the box event for Holos.
