Why do you care so much about your oshi having a boyfriend IRL? If I was so into chuubas that I could logically say that a specific girl is my oshi I wouldn't care that she has a BF. I'd actually be pretty glad that she has a guy that loves her and cares for her.

Well because some people like to fantasize about the vtuber being their girlfriend. It's mostly because the vtuber industry evolved within the japanese idol industry and people just carried their values over. I personally wouldn't have an issue with it, as long as they don't kiss, fuck, etc. on stream, because I'd feel like a cuck watching it.

Japan actually got tired of Idol culture too. That is why Nijisanji is the most popular vtubers company in Japan and .Live and Hololive were not. Let's ignore EOP, ESL, and Chinks numbers for the sake of arguments.
