I kinda forget the story beat order of this part of the game but I was mainly talking about the timeskip, which hits so fucking hard seeing Brother Nier go from shota to that. But looking it up I forgot how much stuff was actually in this part of the game, it's basically going to establish all the locations before that so really doubtful we'll see that this stream I reckon.

Drakengard is the original fantasy game. Nier is a sequel to one of its multiple endings. Nier Automata is a far flung sequel to this.

Nier is the sequel to Drakengard. Drakengard takes place in a different dimension and time, wildly different setting called Midgar or whatever. In the secret ending of Drakengard, Ending E, the "heroes" are transported through a portal with their enemies to the skies above Tokyo, 1999. Our world. They do battle there and both die. As a result magic is introduced into "our" world. That's this timeline of Earth. This takes place like 1400 years after that event. Automata takes place 9k~ years after this game.

They're locked behind sidequests but in the very very end-game you can buy them from a unique merchant. Still she shouldn't just go "fuck all sidequests" like that moron suggests, there's lots of fetch quest stuff but also tons of amazing story beats and character dialog and interactions hidden behind multiple of them.

Literally all of the characters in Nier Replicant completely power gap the Automata characters in basically every single way. I think it's fine if Bae gets to experience the same tediousness we all did. Imagine a Saturday morning kids cartoon about a defense attorney and the wacky cases he solves
The good guys ultimately always win, nobody really gets hurt too much for real, you put pets on the stand for cross examinations, the characters have very in your face names like "Shelly de Killer" (surely the killer), etc.
It's generally stupid and fun, if you try to take it seriously you are gonna hate it. Some of the cases ARE really fucking slow and you spend 5+ hours on the characters acting like absolute dumbasses to make simple logical connections that were obvious to you from the first minute

There's a lot of times where the game expects you to make really fucking huge leaps, then other times they are so small you completely pass over them since they were already obvious to you hours ago.
Everyone gets stuck somewhere at some point, the game is too inconsistent with its logic, no matter how in tune with it you are you are gonna trip up somewhere.
