Anons, I hate to say it, but I have been on numberfag shit again. REAL big numberfag shit. But I'm probably going to be busy for the weekend, so I want to give you my preliminary findings right now, so that you can at least have that to tide things over.
You know the guy who counts all of our threads, right? Keeps a percentage of threads, keeps a running tally of them, compares it to the board as a whole? Well, it's decent, but I think there's a grander picture being missed. That only keeps track of our numbers, and leaves everyone guessing as to how the numbers of the rest of /vt/ are growing, what's fueling them, and generally making people guess that it's catalog trash.
So I've spent the better part of the day working on a project to try and figure out a better scope of the numbers on /vt/. To that end, I've been archiving the content of other Generals and adding it to the dataset the other guy does, and in that pursuit, I wish to come to one ultimate conclusion:
>What percentage of /vt/ is General Threads, and what percentage of /vt/ is one-off bait threads in the catalog? To that end, I've archived two of the bigger Generals and with that alone, I have possibly solved one of the bigger mysteries that first dataset gave us: "What is responsible for the percentage change of /hlgg/ over the last five months?"
To that end, I give you my two datasheets:
>/NijiEN/: https://files.catbox.moe/mmu5bc.xlsx>/∞/: https://files.catbox.moe/6p7l3v.xlsxAnd the relevant data from those:
>/NijiEN/ as a percentage of /vt/: 4.5%>/∞/ as a percentage of /vt/: 0.6%>/hlgg/ as a percentage of /vt/: 50.1%>Number of /vt/ posts from Generals in total so far, as of 9,500,000 posts: 55.2%The numbers so far are looking to support my hypothesis, which is:
>The majority of /vt/'s growth is not more schizophrenics and bait, but instead fueled by more Generals attracting more Vtuber fans that had no place beforeFeel free to discuss it or not, but overall, this is the numbers. I'll probably post again in a few days with more data from the various oshi threads and other group activity threads out there, and I wouldn't be surprised to find at least 2/3rds of all content is in general format threads.
I think that's the point of data: Getting a clear and accurate understanding of the world. So data which has gaps, and leads to a less worthwhile understanding of the world, needs to be filled with more data, to find the full picture.
