At the same time it was a "cope" - men suddenly had to compete with top 20% on the tinder. They still were attracted to women, but women ignored them, treated them dismissively or with disgust, so it created connections in their brains, that getting dominated/rejected/toyed with/dismissed is part of arousal.
There is also symbolic interpretation of women becoming "strong" in the society game, while role of the men becoming less and less significant. From the male perspective women became those unstoppable forces or life ruination, that can just do whatever they want with you (in the social sphere), maybe even civilization ruining (which maps to destroying cities and planets just for a whim) - but that may be just going a bit too schizo
