>>95874826Ah yes the attentionwhore "fan". Saved a post for that recently. It's scary how much this applies.
There are three types of Vtuber fans: the corpocucks, the groomerfags and the attentionwhores.
If you'd watch your oshi if she was a 0view (no previous corpo or major fanbase) with no community engagement (reading chat, fan-discord, social media attention) then you are a groomerfag. You watch vtubers only for the parasocial aspect. Most people would think they fall under this category but they are wrong. Entertainment is something inherently social and without the ability to share your experience/excitement with others (even if it would only be in spirit), most people wouldn't even stick around for a single stream; even if it happened to be their future oshi.
Then there are the "fans" who watch vtubers mostly for the attention they get by either the vtuber themself or their community. This includes people that cosplay, artists, people that constantly superchat/donate, very active chat members, those that are very active on twitter constantly using their oshis hashtags and the most active members in fan discords. They usually gravitate towards the vtubers that give them the most attention. In holoEN that would probably be Kiara or Nerissa. For the rest of the community these kind of viewers are a blight since they hog all of the attention. Just because you don't fall under this category doesn't mean you dislike your oshi's attention, you simply aren't as comitted in receiving it as others. That's why having an oshi who gives out their attention equally is such a nice thing to have.
And lastly the corpocuck. Those who trust the corpo to hire the funniest, brightest and most talented. Every talent will have a guaranteed fanbase, protection, resources and quality content from the start. A great blessing to be given in a world with thousands of shitty/scuffed models, low quality content, 0views, forced networking and groomers/sexpests around every corner. It is only natural then that the corpocuck gets mad when a talent they previously supported decides to leave/gets fired, to leave all of that behind for the sake of "freedom"(more money). The corpocuck doesn't follow their oshi, atleast not for long, since the world outside of the bubble is unpredictable, political, low quality and cringe. They prefer their controlled environment with annual events to look forward to.
All of this only applies to Hololive of course; since you'd have to be truly retarded to be a corpocuck for any other company.
The fourth category would be for those that only watch vtubers for entertainment and nothing else. But since those people wont stick around for long and mostly include clipwatchers, they can't be considered fans.
