Just compare FF7 with the remakes.
For example when president Shinra is killed. In the remake there is no sense of mystery at all because they want to bloat the game and show off Sephiroth.
In the original you're caught and in a jail. Suddenly the door opens, you follow a bloody trail and find the president spiked on a big sword.
In the remake Sephiroth gets in your way so you can walk around in a shitty lab where Hojo eventually just lets you go for reasons? Then you follow some black goo and then Sephiroth stabs two people and there isn't even any blood, just smoke.
Same thing with Rebirth. Cloud is off his rocker and is manipulated by Sephiroth and at some point in the game he beats the shit out of Aerith. In Rebirth it's just "hmph it's fake" then they shove Cloud around because he's being weird and just stumbling.
Then Sephiroth appears and Aerith runs away on magical roots that Sephiroth is making grow
