>>96093119My thoughts: there were 5 ways holoearth could have gone, it chose one and is doing that successfully
> 1. (This one) Brand holo’s future arbitrarily for pr/marketing/investor purposes. It worked because its ongoing without major controversy, it gives the business and executive teams and yagoo something to justify their existence and talk about in interviews> 2. The exact opposite direction - a futuristic VR hub where fans and vtubers can meet and become the actual vtuber metaverse. They would have had to keep it under wraps for many years and invest a lot of research into engineering and VR visionaries> 3. A multimedia project encompassing anime, games, events, brands, etc. It has new characters already like mithra and kururu and a manga thing and one event but its not nearly enough> 4. Be holo’s own platform for 3d concerts and events> 5. Be an actual MMO game with updates and gameplay that appeal to lots of gamersIts unrealistic and foolishly ambitious to act like they were going to fulfill all 5 of these goals, they would have needed to focus super hard at just one of the latter goals to be able to achieve success in that department, even with a lot of specialized talent. They *could*, they could hire top VR visionaries and engineers, hire top MMO game devs, hire top animators and manga artists, hire 3d modelers to make more concert focused stages etc, but theyre spreading themselves extremely thin trying to do it all at once
So really for now its just an ill-defined resource-devouring project with no payoff other than being a throwaway hook for pr/marketing/investors, and i would argue thats having a predictably harmful impact on how non pr/marketing/investor people are interpreting this project. The main takeaway is, either they should start caring about the artistic and practical integrity of this project or they should just keep using holoearth in this cynical half-assed way thats working out for them already and hope it doesnt piss too many people off
