So what are the "types" and what is strong and weak to each other? DESU, the thing which puts me off from it is that the art of the cards itself doesn't look great with mostly stock model poses when the Pokemon cards realize how much good artwork is a pull for collectors, even ones who don't care about the game itself.

Just colors. Red, Blue, Green, White, Purple, and Yellow which is being added in the set coming next month. 2nd Blooms get a +50 against another color but what color they get the boost against isn't uniform.

That depends entirely on what rules they put out. Magic allows multi-language drifting, Yu-Gi-Oh segregates between Asian and non-Asian languages, and Pokemon varies wildly depending on where you're playing and what level on tournament you're at. If you're just playing in casual settings you can do whatever the fuck you want.
HOCG'S card backs are already in English so I can't imagine them redesigning them for a NA release, and even if they do you can just use opaque sleeves.
