>>961858You're supposed to get permission to stream any game, regardless of who you are. 99% of the time, the companies really aren't going to give a shit that you're recording or streaming their games, even if they say otherwise. A notable example of a streamer getting copyright striked for playing games is Pewdiepie after he said nigger that one time. Nijisanji had this pretty much covered from the start (as far as I'm aware), while Hololive was essentially doing the thing most people do and streams the games anyways, assuming that if there was some sort of problem that they'd be informed.
I was following the autistic drama as it unfolded. If you're wondering why you don't know anything about it, it's because the only people retarded enough to get mad over something like this are Japanese.
So basically, at some point it came out that Nijisanji was given permission to play and monetize Nintendo games, at which point people noticed that Hololive was suspiciously absent from the companies given permission. This immediately began the autismforce of what I assume is the combined power of hikkikomoris with nothing better to do from 2channel and NND who started a massive shitfling that ended in what we have right now.
Among the things that were mentioned in the shitflinging videos were:
- A tweet by Yagoo basically saying that Hololive doesn't really check if they're ok to play the games or not. (something about distinction between 'blacks' and 'whites' i honsetly forget)
- Choco getting shit on a ton for being kind of preachy. I remember she had a video where she was explaining the rules of her stream around the time, and people were not very happy when she started saying that they shouldn't infringe on Hololive's copyright.
- Some clips of Korone playing that one sentai show game and playing the theme song, at some point saying that if there was a problem with playing the theme song then they'd just take down the archive and everything would be a-okay.
So all of this leads to Hololive enforcing the strict policy that they're only allowed to play games that they're given permission to play. This led to a pretty big drought of good content for a while since they were only allowed to play like two or three games as a result, and the shitflinging made everything feel tense.
There's also the nuking of the old archives, which happened as a result of Hololive stupidity. Despite enforcing the "we need to have permission for everything we stream" shit, they left up all of the old archives because money I assume. This proves to be a dumb idea when Mio gets hit with a copyright strike and gets banned for a month or so, and as a result the near entirety of Hololive's archives went private. I dunno how much effort they put into un-privating the old archives, and I don't remember but I think at least one streamer had hers outright delorted.
So, in short, the reason why Hololive has to get permission for every single game now is because the Japanese are relentless in their autism and will let Hololive know if they forget to do so.
