>>96650384>rather than a strict set of rules what if the theology stated in the text is literally true and the fate of your soul is an emergency? Being wishy-washy about it and not following it exactly is too much of a risk in that scenario

>thinking a flawed limited mortal human can come up with the best way to live their life all on their own and can just do whatever they want with their free will and should be the master of their own destinythe state of most of humanity and all of human history is literally proof against this
what makes you think humans actually should be the ones deciding how to best live their lives and rule themselves when clearly the results are so catastrophic?
The Bible claims that the original sin was where God said to humanity 'if you don't do as I say and have free will, it's not gonna go well for you" humans then went "nah we can totally disobey you and have free will, we can totally rule ourselves just fine" and God said "alright, bet"
the fact that humanity is so clearly incapable of ruling themselves and inflicts suffering on themselves and each other on such a mass epic scale unironically makes one feel like the Bible's claims about reality might be more likely to be true purely because it literally states and predicted that it was gonna happen exactly like that
it's like that 'don't make me tap the sign' meme about how hololive is good because 'women are only good when under an oppresive moral code' or whatever except for all of humanity, not just women and the oppressive moral code is God
