I blame mostly art education in schools that don't teach art well and so people, like mathematics, just think it's something you are either innately good at or you're not and therefor there is no skillful benefit gained from an artist working as an artist since they already have all the skills since they were born with them. Rather than the fact that art, like mathematics, requires a lot of thought and practice.
