And even among weeb and weeb-adjacent hobbies, people still raise an eyebrow at the idea of Hololive (see: YGO community-sided clips of Biboo vs FWMC). So in theory, there's still an audience of people who don't know about the Selen clusterfuck and are maybe receptive to Vtubing but not Hololive's style of it.
Of course, as evidenced by *gestures broadly at everything else* only Hololive's idea of Vtubing seems to be showing any signs of growth - even NijiJP's showing many signs of recline - so who knows if this is actually a winning strategy. But I at least agree that being "bad, ironic Hololive" is a guaranteed method to piss your VC funds away, and I don't know if NijiEN's got any viable alternatives.
