Genuinely mainstream western normalfags, the type whose anime experience starts and ends with two or three Shonen Jump anime adaptations, start associating "other" Japanese as the domain of a specific side. This repulses not just normalfags but also any potential hobbyist who might enjoy a particular genre.
They go for cutesy Japanese media for the irony, but more specifically they leech things that are:
a) popular and memed by a pre-existing fanbase they otherwise don't interact with
b) have a sub or a localization; nationalist simps can barely speak their own language, much less another.
c) has fanbase of aimless and socially isolated men who they can try to brainwash into their cult, mostly with misleading messages. Shit like "your hobby is under attack, it is HATED by the people outside of our group".
It's retarded to pull this off on FWMC because most westerners don't care about Hololive, and what little exposure they get is more likely to come from Gura or the Miko GTA clip.
