But there are differences between liquid soaps, and bar soaps.
Liquid soaps are generally based on Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate, which are surfactants, meaning they stick fat and water together, carrying away dirt with them.
Bar soaps are made with Lye (Sodium/Potassium Chloride), which actually chemically breaks down the fats and binds them with water to make new water soluble chemicals.
It's also highly basic, allowing it to break down tissue, and very reactive, allowing it to react with and break down a lot of chemicals.
