Why does NijiEN keep privating their archives? Should I start downloading every vod just on the off chance that they’ll take something down? Do they not care about history?

It's more like Finana talked about common pirate sites for hentai with pomu and the Japanese get extremely pissy about that kind of thing so probably forced it down out of fear that the convo condoning pirating in essence (even though it is the main if not practically only way for a lot of the west to get such things), could be weaponized against them.

Alas....the permissions nightmare means that talents have to go back and manually review things before putting them back up, and many of them either do not have the time or don't care enough to review that many hours of VODs to restore old content that likely will not accure much in VOD views for ad rev.

Unfortunately from what I can remember it was like that, as they were severely understaffed until they went on a mass hiring spree in Q4 2020*. I'm not sure if it's managers now, but Pekora recently had vids unprivated so there definitely is work being done to being some of those old VODs back.
