Honestly I wasn't too keen on Nerissa early on when she kept doing little laughs everytime FuwaMoco were running scared in the first Phasmophobia and Left 4 Dead Advent collab. At the time I thought she was mocking them... That feeling went away pretty quick though after they collabed more.

I never had anything against Shiori, and even now I'm more annoyed by the people who will feel emboldened by this rather than her, but she always did feel a little distant from the rest of Advent and especially FWMC. She called Mococo "Mo-Coco" for ages even though Mococo specifically corrected that pronunciation in their debut, and she was the last person to stop calling them "fuwamoco" instead of addressing them individually, even now she still does that in collabs sometimes. There was a point in one of their collabs, I think it was the 6th month anniversary or at least around then, where they were all talking about their first impressions of each other and how they had changed over time, and it really felt like Shiori didn't know what to say or didn't want to genuinely open up about how she felt so all her answers were super generic.

For me, I knew Diamond Dogs were strong. Shiori is one I figured I would hate, but then she would get better. I guess I was wrong. Nerissa was one I didn't get a read on until much later. I like Nerissa a lot now, and honestly, she's very clear where she stands on male collabing too. There's a good copypasta about it too which paints a clear light that, while she's not Diamond Dogs level of secure, she's pretty damn solid.

It's funny looking back at like August-October of 2023 when people seriously thought Nerissa and FWMC hated each other, because of the gnome thing and the whowawa jokes right around the same time, and now it's clear that they're probably the closest friends in Advent. If Rissa liked that one as well, which she never would given her clearly stated stance on these things, surely that person would have posted that instead of just her liking the second tweet. Keep in mind she's coming from the same idol fan mindset as FWMC, she doesn't avoid male collabs because she's afraid of unicorns or whatever, she does it because she has no interest in them and they don't fit with how she thinks an idol should be. There are so many minor reasons for all this. Japs, for example, don't really have unicorns. They have gachikoi, which are a bit different and usually can tolerate some male collabs (especially professional ones). JPs don't get personally offended (at least publically) about negative reactions from fans on things. Japs don't have the culture war motivating people to be beggars and thus, JPs have no real pressure to do it outside of management. But because Japs are Japs, management influence is more of a factor than for Westerners who may be more likely to push back. It's such a complex issue, but yes, I do agree with what you said.

Yeah, I prefer it this way and they clearly do as well but it does lead to moments like that where tourists get confused over something they've already heavily implied their thoughts on on stream. It's also funny how people still bring up Yosuga no Sora being in Fuwawa's favorites but I've never seen anyone talk about Onimai being there as well, maybe it's just too new for people to be aware of it. Admittedly sometimes I do kinda wish they would be more open about specific things though, like their distaste for Oshi no Ko or that whole Made in Abyss disagreement they were really vague about.

They're trying to find that balance between letting people know their tastes but still wanting to preserve a family friendly, seiso atmosphere for streams.

Yeah I do think they're getting there, the fact that they do actual zatsu streams in membership, and spend the first hour or so of their superchat readings chatting and telling stories is a big step in the right direction. I guess that is my biggest issue at its core then if that's what it is. I always laughed when people would compare them to someone big on the other side like Korone or Miko, when there's a ton of instances of those two giving harsh opinions on stuff. It always just feels like they're tip-toeing on every discussion because they're afraid to make someone mad, and it comes off a bit inhuman sometimes.
But then there's the rare occasions like the post-nendo announcement where they went into pretty detailed stories about their past with figures and series.

They like saving stories for when it's relevant too. That Death Note V-Jump story came out of nowhere, and it was really cool. Running out of stories is a common issue for zatsu heavy chuubas. Once you catch up to recent years when most of you time is spent on things you can't talk about, you run out of things to say.
It has its pros and cons, but I personally didn't think "why did they never say this before" when checking the interview, I thought it was great to have such a new detailed story to enjoy.

Their primary audience is EN, and unlike many EN fans, they are real and true otaku. Not even a sliver of it is ironic. They have tastes and opinions that may turn off EN viewers. JP talents are catering primarily to JP viewers who have different ideas of what is normal. Sadly, these two audiences are different. So being cautious is smart.

Kinda goes back to why I want them to do kore anime watchalongs or play more VN. Saving those stories is nice if the content they revolve around is actually being done, because that gives them a chance to talk about it. They also seem pretty gunshy about just talking about random IP's a lot of the time, like the idol stuff where they rarely mention names or groups by name.

The idol stuff is a good example too, because saving their feelings about Dempagumi by name (only mentioning the 3am streams without namedropping before) gave us the super emotional RnR party, that stream was so legendary that Mococo's oshi gained confidence to get back to singing, that was beautiful.
But I agree it would be nice if it happened more often. While also thinking it's wise to save stories instead of blowing it all on random zatsu streams only 2k people will watch with half not even paying attention.

That reminds me in one of their FWMC mornings during debut month they were talking about their love for anime figures and even mentioned some they had that were from the mid 2000s. A lot of greys in chat were calling it cringe and weird. Though that was debut month with a lot of tourists in their chats.

The one I really want them to play on stream is Gore Screaming Show, since it's got an English release now. I don't think they've talked about it or even read it before, if they could somehow make it work it would be great. Also they really need to do a Chobits watchalong with Nerissa at some point, especially since they mentioned trying to do a Macross one with her and not being able to in the end.

Grim. I hate ironic weebs so fucking much and normalfags in general in this space need to fucking lurk. FWMC towing a fine line between revealing their powerlevels and keeping their audience happy is quite a neat thing to see in real-time. It's kind of why I like seeing them do Japanese streams since I get to see a slightly less filtered experience.
