ID is literally on another level with their delusional victim complex. ESPECIALLY Gen 1. Just in these past few months we've seen:
>Iofi complain about not being successful or making money on her RM account, saying she thought about quitting
>Risu made vagueposts on Twitter about not being invited to sing for projects or being known for singing
>Moona alluding that she wants to take singing more seriously and make more money
These girls have been in it since 2020 so 5 years now. And I was there and let me tell you, they haven't done a single fucking thing to deserve any kind of fanbase or support. They didn't stream often, they chased male collabs, at times they were openly spiteful of their fans, and Risu would often go MONTHS without singing, to the point where it was a meme among her few remaining fans. Iofi wants to be an artist but she makes no progress on her art except for yelling at traceniggers which is based but doesn't help her. Moona is too autistic and doesn't capitalize even when she has something like the PekoMoona arc.
And now 5 years have passed and they're looking around and they're seeing girls who debuted at the same time as them being more successful. They're seeing girls who debuted AFTER them be vastly more successful. And they literally have nobody to blame but themselves. They didn't put in the work. Hololive is not a golden ticket, it's a golden OPPORTUNITY. You still have to put in some work, much less than if you weren't in Hololive but work nonetheless.
Fuck man, I remember when times were so slow and news was so scarce, a big "YAB" was Risu not thanking a $500 USD max akasupa enough. Now personally? I think the whole affair was overblown. However I watched the clip and Risu did kind of just say thank you, despite the fact that 1 akasupa, even after Cover and YT's cut, is probably more money than her family sees in a month. That's just one example so it's not surprising you don't build a rabid hardcore fanbase if you aren't perceived to be grateful. Add to that the fact that she streamed rarely and did karaoke even less, it just makes her complaining about not being picked for singing projects a bit silly.
Here's what I've noticed just by being a fan of Hololive and hanging around and seeing the news. Indonesia is a Muslim country with monopoly tier money. The people fall into two categories, people who want male collabs at all costs, and Unicorns. And one of those fucking sides spends money, not much because it's monopoly money, but they spend money. So it's really a no brainer what you should do as an ID talent, given that you're in Hololive, you still have less of a safety net than say a JP or EN. And if I could figure this shit out just by being my American ass in America, I feel like the ID girls would have to be complete fucking retards to not figure it out too.
People forget this but Kobo got to 1 million subs faster than Gura did.She was actually on track to overtake her. Ollie was the most successful ID before her. Then they spammed male collabs and fell to where they are now. Afterthoughts.
Sorry for the outsize response but this is something I've noticed for years but just finally had to put words too. ID as a branch just infuriates and amuses me. The absolute gall they have to act like they deserve more success is both rage inducing and hilarious. Yes they have slightly less forgiving circumstances due to Indonesia being like I said but they absolutely could have made a path for themselves, Kaela is proof of that. Instead they just sit around and passive aggressively bitch. Zero sympathy for them.
