99.9% of the time the word "parasocial", for a streamer and their bootlicking audience that will follow them no matter what, means "viewers that disagree with me" and is used as a mark of shame to shit on even long-time fans. The definition can and will change to suit whatever they feel at the time, it has no concrete meaning anymore and it arguably never did. This is NOT exclusive to vtubers. Normal flesh streamers also LOVE to talk about "parasocial" fans while they, hypocritically so, are parasocial themselves. The transaction they want from people watching is this
>they do thing, you watch them, agree with everything they say and do AND you give them money and never ask questions and never dig further into anything, just consume and shut the fuck up but don't forget, GIVE THEM MONEY>if you disagree with anything or show genuine interest in the person streaming in any way, even if it's just friendly, you are a PARASOCIAL FREAK FAGGOT FUCK YOUAnd then they send their brainwashed fans to attack the person that didn't conform. Streamers will tell you about their life, share sensitive topics, talk about their family and their day, show genuine emotion in front of the camera and even cry and share joy with the audience, and then do a 180 and scream HEY NO WAIT, *YOU* ARE BEING A PARASOCIAL FREAK YOU DAMN WEIRD VIEWER FAGGOT, YOU ARE CRINGE. Streamers are just the same, if not worse, than the sociopathic psychos they pretend are among their fans. They're genuinely fucking insane and look for people that indulge them so it creates like a collective insanity. The best thing to do is not to announce your departure, just get the fuck out of there, never look back and watch someone that is still sane instead.
