>>98876930lol i get ya point, but you want to be an outsider for the right reasons. like suisei is almost an outsider by virtue of her music career, i mean she doesn't even refer to herself as a vtuber anymore, she's a "virtual idol." it's absolutely a good thing for her to do though, you don't really want to be put in the "vtuber" box when you have something way more to offer.
but cookieswirl seems to want to be put in the box i guess? or she's just doing her own thing, idk. the vtuber scene disregards her but not really out of malice, she's just not that connected to it.
kizuna ai is a different story i suppose. she was the first. man its fucked up to think i used to watch her videos all the time back in 2018. they were cool, she had a tonne of credibility and it was novel etc. and then vtubing as its own legit subculture took off and suddenly it all became very uncool (which is understandable because... yeah it is uncool). for years after that i avoided vtubers, only really falling down the rabbithole a few months prior to advent's debut.
it just feels quaint watching old kizuna ai vids, yet when watching holojp clips now, i can still see her dna and style in it. in that sense, it's hard for me to call her an outsider.
