Kobo grew her audience from the general pot of the "entertainment industry", and audience that will know your name, recognise your songs but definitely won't buy anything they can get for free.
Her doing so in INDONESIA out of all places (one whose discretionary spending power is definitely not par with Japan and the US) didn't help the littlest and with Kaela providing the easy comparison for a much better strategy, that surely might have affected Kobo.
