Oh hey, we are back. To get things up and running again, I've got something more interesting and major to discuss.
When HoloEN debuted, the market was on fire. There was a ton of interest and money in vtubing, so every e-girl under the sun followed the gold rush. That gold rush is over, and the market of standard vtubers is now oversaturated. It has been oversaturated for a couple of years now.
As such, the hunt for niche markets began. What niche has been mostly left alone, has a fuckton of money in it and is somewhat easy to cater to? Adult content.
In the last year, especially in the second half of it, there has been a surge of various indie vtubers giving adult content a go. The content they produce is overall rather boring. Scripted RP scenarios, fake moaning, etc, etc. But lack of skill doesn't matter because they are zero quality standards and a ridiculous amount of money and interest in adult content. Its free real estate. It is also the reason why Vallure is, despite having a number of issues due to menhera moments, reasonably successful with comparatively mediocre actual avtuber content.
Now, JP vtubers and by extension avtubers trying to cater to EN audiences isn't new. Alice tried playing Minecraft in English a couple of times, Manon gave live-action asmr in lingerie and the hot tub tag on twitch a go, Sakura did EN ASMR on two occasions, and some other minor attempts I've forgotten to mention. Most of that happened around the initial EN rush, but with lack of further interest, most attempts were quickly buried.
In recent months however, we have seen a couple of JP avtubers trying to cater to the EN audience again. Timaki with her EN audio roleplays or Hatsukoi trying to repeat everything she says in English.
Most notably though is now this:
https://x.com/PROMISU_Ent/status/1915625267466571806Promisu is opening up a EN branch. Again, technically, but its complicated. It will take some months to see the impact of all the things happening right now, but I believe that there is possibly a storm on the horizon. Depending on how things play out in the coming months, we are perhaps looking at the "Avtuber Global" moment approaching us. The Meiro incident could be a joke compared to what could possibly happen. Only time will tell.
