Comparing her to others is indeed a way to measure her success, but it's not the be-all-end-all. If I see she has 20k viewers (natural) I can think of it as her being able to fill a whole stadium with just her fans wanting to watch her goof around, and that's nice. Maybe there are other vtubers that can fill bigger stadiums, maybe they fill large event venues, and I will compare her to them, not with envy, but admiration, and hope that my oshi can do that in the future too. And if she becomes more famous than them in the future, that's great, it means a lot more people like her now, but I won't be shitting on or belittling her coworkers.
I should mention that my oshi is a large HoloJP who I started watching fairly early on and that has now largely made it so I can't really complain, but I do like other HoloJPs and ENs and I want them to grow famous as well. On their own, without botting.
