Her content didn't really change, she just has a vtuber avatar now because she mostly hid behind the camera in her videos. A lot of her new subcribers probably came from her earlier content, so realistically she probably gained 1M subscribers naturally, not 4M+. She's not in the vtuber community because she doesn't stream, although Yagoo follows her on twitter and Ironmouse and Filian have both reached out to her in the past, so if she decided to start streaming Cookie would instantly have a network of vtubers wanting to spend time with her.
