Tsukumo Sana leaving - especially so early in her career - crippled any Hololive Council "unity" which snowballed into lack of any HoloEN unity. Disunity sowed burnout or outright laziness which eventually claimed all but maybe 3 of the original 10.
Since it took Advent about 2 years to debut, the early foundational gens were simply left to rot from the inside out.
The full extent of the damage has not even been realized yet.
Advent was a decent course correction but not enough to patch the holes. The casting choices for Justice were very strong but the fall of several foundational talents in early 2025 show that even Justice is not enough.
Long story short, Hololive English needs a new generation unlike any before. Stronger personalities, more talent, more willingness to work - all good and necessary attributes but they only go so far. Hololive English needs to evolve to survive this purge.
The proposal: A 5th gen unit that on paper AND in practice primarily produces original music by and for English speaking westerners.
Despite the many successes of Calliope Mori as a performer and musical artist, the stigma surrounding "vtuber music" remains in the west. This stigma makes possibilities for live events in North America and Europe limited. The proposed 5th gen would address this problem directly by normalizing more artistic, western-appealing music composition and writing within Hololive.
The potential for creating a break-out song that reaches an audience outside of the vtuber/idol culture niche would increase, improving the mass appeal of Hololive in the west. Live events for someone like Calliope Mori would become more viable if the general audience had more appreciation for what vtubing can bring especially to live concerts but to music, art and storytelling in general as well.
Greater opportunities would reinvigorate a stale branch and heal some of the wounds that started several years ago.
