>>99776836Ntg, from a company perspective they can't let talents keep the IP's of the characters due to the very brand risk that would cause. When you think of the most popular vtuber, you instantly think of Gura, and right after that you think of Hololive.
Example 1: Rushia, if Cover let her keep the IP after she was given the boot she would have gathered so much hate and negativity that fans would have associated her with Hololive even if she wasn't part of it.
Example 2: Hololive China, when Hololive CN branch was cut off the talents originally thought they would get to keep the models they used to stream, and only near their graduations is when they got told that they would not get to keep the models. Which turned out to be the right decision because most of the Hololive CN members turned out to be CCP members who worshipped their own government above all else, they proceeded to mock Hololive fans and told their fans to go attack Hololive members (specifically Kiryu Coco) by spamming her chat and Twitter with obscenities.
Imagine the scenario Gura did get to keep her model, but one day she wakes up and decides to start going political, or say slurs, or do something that completely destroys the image everyone has of her. Even if you think she would never do that, the fact that the possibility of it exists is enough for Hololive to never even consider letting a talent keep their models.
Gura is an adult, she wants to move on from that character and start again, you people only want the model because the idea of change is so horrid to you you'd go against the Gura's own decision as long as you get what you wanted.
