The only thing that Gonathon would ever stand up for was for his Pearl. If it involved her, then he had a backbone. Why? Because he loved her.
Gonathon does not truly love anyone right now in season 2. He even lets HPO humiliate his queen in front of him. No knight worth his armor would let that happen and not challenge it.
Ultimately, Gonathon puts others wants before his and trusts almost anyone unequivocally, damn the consequences. It’s his fatal flaw, and we’re seeing it exploited to the fullest on the big stage this season.
