>>1696953>Is it okay to use one method for the hair and another for the rest as long as I keep to those methods in their respective area?To be honest, no - it's again a consistency things, and the two methods have different metodologies - the unified, as shown by John here
>>1696982Is the usual, saner way to go, makes the lines look nice and consistent and is easier overall to color.
The other method, while making the hair look nice and flowy, is a nightmare to color (especially for gradients, shading and other fun effects) - it is probably why I am the only one crazy enough to use it, because I spend hours moving nodes in the hair, to ensure there is no bleed between the lines and color layers.
Mixing the two as you have done, makes it look off, because of the breaks you have in the hair at the ends, plus it also makes the places where the lines connect look wonky because of how they connect.
Look at Char in contrast to Laura - Laura's hair was done with the "unified" method, while Char has the "Derpy" method. Total time to do Laura's hair was about two hours, including the lines, while Char took me about 4-6 hours, because of the color and getting those ends to meet nicely.
