Didn't realise there were layers in GIMP. Now it all makes sense. One question though what does 'grow' '1px' do ?
I used 'fuzzy select' then converted the background (at the time white) to transparent. Then created a 2nd layer and made it black.
Finally changed the colour to transparent and started removing the bits of white next to the girl. Pity there is not a quicker way to do this.
I suppose even in this day and age computers still can't do all the work you expect !
