The way I see it, let people like what they want. You talk about people on reddit being peer pressured into liking something because everyone else on the site does, but I see the same thing happen on here. People get ostracized and insulted just because some of their favorite shit happens to be popular or is (in their opinions) shit. Isn't that just peer pressuring them into not enjoying something? I won't claim Steins;Gate - or any anime for that matter - to be the greatest anime of all time, simply for the fact that in order for me to make that judgment I'd have had to have seen every single anime. But if somebody has Steins;Gate as their favorite anime, I don't think it's anybody's right to say that their opinion is wrong - that's why it's their opinion.
Idunno. Maybe i'm thinking too far into it. Maybe I'm just trying to defend myself because Steins;Gate is among my favorite anime. Long story short though, people are entitled to their own opinion. Whether that opinion has been swayed by the masses or not is irrelevant because at the end of the day, it is just their opinion.
