If you're going to use the magic select tool instead of tracing paths, then be sure to go over corners and edges with uneven lineart like the areas I've pointed out. This is easier to do against a dark background. If you don't want to clean the whole outline by hand (this often takes longer than just doing it properly the first time) then at least cut in a few pixels more, then select the inverse of your mask, grow and feather it, and fill with the outline color. Here's what that looks like (I still didn't fix the corners, but this didn't take any more time than the way you presumably did it and looks almost good enough to put on a dark background):
