>>1846625. i'm standing behind the strokes on naota because i think they look good, as they're not trying to imitate your description of a correct fill. they're trying to look like strokes. i get the differences you're pointing out in the image, and while i think all three examples are aesthetically unappealing (due to my previously detailed disdain for outlines) i don't think the incorrect fills are necessarily incorrect. sure there can be rules about how things are done, especially for people with no experience or vision of what they want, but if the rules are never broken there can be no advancement of the art form. as time has gone on and more people have gained access to more tools, less and less classically trained artists are emerging, and that's not a bad thing in my opinion. just different.
>>1846627cool man, i'm happy to drop it i just want to make my views clear.
>>1846628how about u make a real argument instead of dismissing my opinions as shit. fite me irl fukr not online c wat hapnesns :^)
>>1846629oh cool i agree with most of this. i haven't looked at the rei image in any more detail than a wallpaper in months, and it's embarrassing af (but i think impressive as a whole for a first).
>if you're going to use lineless, it's to give it a more realistic feelthis is the only thing i disagree with. solid color borders (and the occasional gradient) are, in my opinion, just as effective as outlines at separating objects, without the cartoonishness i feel outlines tend to give off. the style sleekens the image, giving it the presence of glass or metal, without entirely embracing realism or minimalism, which is something i believe to be a little bit beautiful.
also i just realized quite a few of porter robinson's visuals for the worlds tour, at least the backgrounds, had a very similar feel to what i just described, wouldn't be surprised if these influenced me too.
