I use the pen tool to extract various areas, the skin and hair.
Then I change my foreground color to R170/G100/B69.
Go to Image>Adjustments>Hue/sat
Check Colorize.
Hue/Sat values for me are Sat:35 Light:-44, experiment to your tastes.
Then I use the burn tool to add shadows, and add skin highlights with the brush tool set to low strength to hands and feet with the characters original skin color.
