Poweramp player, is the one on my screen. Also Phantom Music Widget is more minimal.
I'm using JOT! for note-taking widget, and Simple Calendar is the one beneath that one.
The main tip I can give you is to take a time to think of a design you'd like, then you download the stuff and make it.
