Never use the first image you find as your model image. Always use reverse image searching (preferably IQDB for anime). As an example, the image you linked has horrible pixelation in comparison to the original found on Danbooru:
http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1477679The much higher resolution and cleaner image makes it easier to vector. That will also allow you to find out who the character is, and then find other sources of that same character to provide proper coloring picking for clothing, skin, or hair.
For the fingers, they are still more pointy and sharp than the original. Once you have worked on enough hands and fingernails, you get the feeling for what they should look like. You will only get better at it with more practice. Here is an example. I also did the hair so you can have a reference as to what it should look like with more emphasis at the tips.
