>>1504548The way I do it is you do the lines/colour lines first, and the expanded Live Paint fills can form the basis for layer masks, clipping masks etc for the gradients to go into.
Or basically, what it looks like you're doing there (in terms of end result) but doing all the Live Paint paths before the shading to give myself groups to work from.
