Each individual node is a specific color. Therefore, you shape the section how you want, add lines and nodes in specific places with varying colors, and select them with the eyedropper.
You generally want to start with a square, because the way the gmesh works is it makes nodes and connects them. If the shape is too complex, or has too many nodes, the gmesh won't work.
